The Children
Adoptions Plus
has successfully found new homes for many children who have been adopted
by a family and have not able to stay with this family. We have placed
several older school age children who were not able to stay with
biological relatives and who needed a permanent home. There are many
reasons these children need new homes. The children that we have helped
through our agency have a wide range of issues and situations. Each
child’s needs are assessed individually and the best possible home is
found for them.
Parent Qualifications
Because some of these children have a wide range of
issues, we do not have rigid requirement for our parents and will also
assess them individually. Training classes are mandatory prior to being
considered for placement.
The Fee
The agency fee is $6000, due in two parts.
*$2500 is due when you are matched with a child and the legal parent
or guardian has agreed to the placement with you. This minimally covers
some of the expenses occurred prior to placement. If the placement does
not happen, a refund of any portion of the fee that has not been used
can be made, or applied to the next placement.
*$3500 is due when Adoptions Plus places the child with you. This fee
may include: pre and post adoptive counseling for the legal parents;
counseling and placement preparation for the child; most birth family
legal fees; preparation of paperwork; adoption plan, preparation and
placement, matching and liaison, post-placement services, filing and
mailing necessary paperwork and finalization reports. It the child is a
newborn it may cover reasonable pregnancy expenses and personal
assistance during labor, some maternity care and delivery expenses.
The Fee Does Not Include:
Application
Homestudy fee and related costs
Medical and maternity expenses over $500
Birth family legal fees over $500
Birth family living expenses (with newborns only)
Travel outside Albuquerque or assigned social workers area
Out of state postplacement supervision and reports
Adoptive parent attorney fees and court fees
Financial responsibility for the child at the time of placement
The
Process
The process for this type of adoption varies depending on the needs
of the child. You must have a completed homestudy on file with Adoptions
Plus to be considered for approval for an older child with special
needs. A child is matched with the family that is best able to meet his
or her needs. All the details of the placement are individual to the
child’s needs. You will need your own attorney to finalize the adoption.
We will coordinate with that attorney and provide him or her with
necessary information. Finalization takes at least six months. |
